Xmtb was formed in 1989 and is
run by volunteers for the benefit of cyclists who have an interest
in Cross Country mountain bike racing.
At present Xmtb Mc Convey cycles
have a membership of approximately 45 made up of 75% under 16 year
olds male and female, and have riders competing from the age of 6
to over 50 from all backgrounds.
It has also been our ethos of
having fun through training and competition which is
why we believe we have such a high
percentage of under age riders within the club.
At present we have 3 Cycling
Ulster qualified coaches and 3 members trained in sports specific
first aid. Our child protection is managed by Cycling Ulster and we
have 7 Cycling Ulster Vetted youth leaders (5 male and 2
female)
XMTB Mc Convey cycles has produced
some of the most successful MTB riders in Ireland. One of our
former riders Connor Mc Convey now rides professionally,
another member won the under 14 British MTB championship, and we
had two runners up in the British youth Championships, we also have
multiple Ulster and Irish champions. XMTB Mc Convey Cycles aim to
continue to produce some of Ireland’s best MTB
cyclists.
